Jam!

Mama decided to make some homemade strawberry jam, and enlisted the help of the Grandmothers! Grandmom hooked us up with ALL the supplies, and Oma provided the on-site advice and assistance. Thank you!

Owen did not help making jam this year, but was interested to see what was going on once he smelled the jam! He's peeking inside the boiling pot with the jars.

Waiting for the "popping" suction sound to ensure that it really was sealed.

And some quality time with the Grandparents.

Recipe we used for the jam:

8 cups of mashed berries (6 pounds)
2.5 cups of white grape juice
1.5 cups honey
2 packets of no-sugar pectin

Pour white grape juice and pectin into pot, and bring to a boil on the stove top, stirring frequently. Once the mixture is boiling, stir constantly for one minute. Then remove from heat and gently pour in the mashed berries. Return to a rolling boil. Stir for one minute, then pour in the honey.

So....how does it taste!?!

I predict you'll be canning everything before long.
