Day 1 we arrived for a very challenging 10-mile hike. "Old Rag" is considered the most challenging hike in Shenandoah but we knew our kiddies were capable of the climb- they did great!
There are many spots on this hike that you have to get down on your hands and knees, or scoot across the rocky footing.
As expected with rain due to arrive that afternoon, we lost views toward the very top.
At the summit! The kiddies climbed over 2000ft to an total elevation over 3000ft!
Shortly after beginning the descent (via a different more gentle trail), it began to rain. And then it POURED on us for several miles. We were soaked but somehow kept laughing! And since we packed well we dried out before reaching the campground.

Day 2 started with hours of no rain...just in time to cook breakfast!
Our first hike was to Mary's Rock.
Our second hike was to Stony Man mountain
Back at camp the rain once again stopped for hours of cooking and exploring...
Day 3 we packed up camp and headed off to hike Compton Peak.
And as we left Shenandoah we stopped all along Skyline Drive...
