Acadia Day 1- and Happy 10th Birthday to Owen!

Owen's 10th birthday was memorable for sure...he got to spend it in one of his favorite places: Maine!  He awoke to begin his celebration in Bangor, ME, opening gifts in the hotel.

Our traditional candle and singing over breakfast...the hotel's breakfast.

After checking out we headed to Schoodic Peninsula for the day. Schoodic is Acadia National Park land, but it's on the mainland (an hour from the Island which is home to the rest of ANP). In coming here for over 13 years, we had never made the time to explore Schoodic, but staying overnight in Bangor allowed us to do it!  We hiked most of the trails the Peninsula offers.

Right across from where we were, the mountain in the distance is Cadillac Mountain (on the Island).

Some birthday portraits.

All over the rocks were crab shells...the birds obviously love to feast here!

We then scooted over to Schoodic Head to hike the summit.

Most of the trail blazes as we ascended Schoodic Head were in the shape of birds!

(This photo makes us giggle because Charlotte photobombed Owen wanting a picture by himself. HE is usually the photobomber!)

Eliza led our hike on the decent! She did great!

Owen wanted lobster for his birthday dinner...no problem!

Getting settled at the house but making time for brownie cake!
