It was also a momentous hike because we crowned one another with trail names. Thru-hikers are always granted a trail name, and it's usually earned or given. We had a fun conversation getting input from the kiddies and figured since we've hiked so much in the past 10 years together, it was time to be given symbolic names: Rock Steady, Planner, Seeker, Animal, and Milkweed.
We found a lot of centipedes and caterpillars and took some along for a ride down the Trail!
The Bug Queen!
At Knife's Edge... a thin strip of rocks that the kiddies thoroughly enjoyed hiking. Definitely reminded us of our adventurous hikes in Acadia!
These kiddies here are so proud of their hiking ability to cross Knife's Edge! Capable and cautious hikers!
At Bear Rocks
The kiddies attempted to find a geocache... they tried for quite a while but we could not find it.
Our crew got to experience Trail Magic for the first time. Trail Magic are random acts of kindness for hikers that hike the Appalachian Trail, particularly for thru-hikers. Cold drinks...free sandwiches...roadside BBQs... the possibilities are endless. At the end of our hike, when we got back to the parking area, sitting there was a large container full of ice-cold Gatorade. It was the perfect end to an amazing hike!
